Mid Century

Mid century split-level houses are often roomy but with low ceilings. This one, built in 1969, is no exception. The owners wanted to combine the kitchen and dining rooms to create one larger space where they could relax and gather together as a family. The new, open plan has pleasing proportions and good balance, thanks to a new long island and floor-to-ceiling cabinetry. New windows and doors relate to the combined area and connect this functional living space to the beautiful rear yard and deck.

For this residential kitchen remodel, Custom Craft Contractors, Inc. of Lansdale, Pa. received a National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) 2009 Contractor of the Year Award (CotY) from the Bucks-Mont Chapter. Home Design Associates provided design services to make this remodeled kitchen look like it has always existed.
